 Lines by Numbers

Galerie Atelier 40 - Paris

September 20th to October 12th, 2012

Is ink matter? Is ink linear? Is it abstract or dense, intrusive or even real?
Writing and/or sign, it represents the most advanced level of the human spirit ... Dostoyevsky or Barbey d'Aurevilly. Material of painting and drawing, it is on the most primary level, fluid and delicate primary source, which we can impose.
This ambivalence, coupled to its extreme simplicity (black, plainly black) has always fascinated Jean-Marc Quittard.
In his staging, the artist dips the dancing bodies in perpetual motion and transcribes them through an emotional script with an infinite alphabet. And inversely, he also puts himself in motion in front of the immobile model.
